Cleaning Though maintaining an aesthetic appearance in the home is very important, Cleaning is important for more reasons than visual appeal. There are many small parts in a piano that must work properly together for the piano to function as it should. Dust and dirt that gets into small spaces can be problematic especially where tolerances can fall within thousandths of an inch. The dust from home improvement projects can be very damaging. There are many spaces that are simply not accessible without special tools or removal of overlaying parts. (have you ever attempted to clean the dust from the soundboard beneath the strings of a grand piano?) Certain solvents can damage strings, the finish, and or the keytops. Even the natural oils on your fingertips can cause ugly discoloration or damaging deterioration on the keys. Consult your piano technician before choosing cleaners for your piano. When using spray cleaners for the cabinet or keys be sure to spray the rag instead of directly onto the piano to avoid damaging overspray. In addition to your regular housekeeping Daniel can give your piano a professional cleaning inside and out. He can remove deposits of dirt inside the piano as well as refresh the external finish. And of course, if cleaning is not sufficient to restore the external appearance, you can discuss refinishing and restoration.
